(First thing: we hope any readers who are in the path of Hurricane Sandy have a safe next couple of days. We really wish Hunker Down Hunsaker was on our TV screens to give us live updates on all of the hunkering down that’s going on. And Hurricane Sandy just needs to move on — we’d much rather deal with Hurricane Michael Carrington.)
So, here we are, a couple of months into the McReign, and we have to say, things seem to be going along quite swimmingly. In fact, in the case of the Hawaii trip, there was literal swimming going on. Today we’re going to look at a video that isn’t ripe for cracking jokes, but it does celebrate some important VP things: namely the new album and the McBestie bonded pair friendship.
The guys sang at a fireside last night, and in this video posted by lexilbach, you can see their version of “Danny Boy.”
Just gorgeous, isn’t it? All of the guys sound amazing. But here’s a particularly cool thing about this song: McCrockett is the one who created the pretty, pretty arrangement, and then it’s his McBestie Kevin who sings it so wonderfully, both here and on the album.
Let’s all take a moment just to enjoy how happy it makes our ears.
Okay, so now that we’ve taken that moment, we do just have to wonder… clearly (clearly) the awesomeness of “Danny Boy” is increased exponentially due to the McBestie Wonder Twin collaboration. Those two guys together are verging on un-freakin’-stoppable. But, we can’t quite figure out…
Who is the octopus and who is the ice unicycle? Our gut says Keith’s voice is the octopus riding on McButters’ ice unicycle of an arrangement, but we’re not quite sure.
Also, we wanted to slip in this quick little gem from the Homecoming Spectacular (Spectacular!).
Okay, we should note that this video was posted by one of our super blog helpers, who goes by the name Sterling Scholar on YouTube. Wait, pause. Why yes, yes we do have our very own blog helper who is enrolled in the Papa Sterling School of Full-Group Videography, and we totally love her for it.
So, we’re super-grateful for this video and the other ones Sterling Scholar managed to get for us (which we’ll be blogging about in the near future). But we wanted to point out just two moments of complete win here and now.
First, please take note of Ben-Jon at :22.
Totally killing it. We definitely approve of this as a potential signature move for Ben-Jon.
Speaking of signature moves, we’re also happy to see that the LSR is alive and well at :35.
We were a little concerned that we hadn’t seen proof of it yet in its full glory, and we were hoping against hope that it would be present in the Second Keith Evans Era. Because, we’re not sure if y’all have heard, but Rerun isn’t just doing a retread of what he previously did in Vocal Point. Oh no, he’s doing different solos this time around and everything. But at least the LSR is here to stay. You guys know how hard it is for us to adjust to change. We’re just not sure our blog hearts could have taken it if the LSR was gone forever.
