We aren’t the only ones obsessively refreshing the official VP website, are we?

September 25, 2012

Oh… we are?

We just can’t help it.  We’re blue in the faces from how long our breath has been bated, awaiting the much-anticipated updates to byuvocalpoint.com.

You see, for as strongly pro-True Group we felt in the beginning, here at TMtP we did eventually get around to embracing the 2012 VP line-up and now the 2012-2013 line-up (McReign foreva!).  But the official website is still living in the Sing-off glory days.  One day soon, though, that’s going to change.  We can just feel it in our bones.  (And, you know, we’ve seen the sneak peeks of the new photo shoot someone posted on facebook.)

So, it’s become a little bit o’ blogger habit to check the site and see if the magical switch has taken place.  And then to sigh.  Heavily.  But the other day we noticed something that suddenly halted our sighing.  Which led to a bit of a coughing fit, as you can imagine.  But we recovered.  And now we want to share our discovery with you.  After confirming that the home page still looked like this:

We clicked on over to the “About” page just to make sure they weren’t being sneaky and getting the new bios up before anything else.  No dice.  What we did find, however, was this:

Um… what the what?!?

So. Many. Questions.

First, where did Bobert go?

We know he used to have a photograph there just like everyone else.  Where do you think Jakebert’s hair came from?

Why did it disappear?  And if anyone’s pic was going to disappear, why did it have to be the one guy who has been a Vocal Point member from True Group on through to present day?

But more importantly… why is there a “member_placeholder_thumb” that is WEARING A TIE?

Oh dear Webmaster, how did you have time to create that gem and yet still haven’t gotten around to updating the website?

Of course, most people would probably see that and think, “Ha, that’s kind of funny.”  But y’all know us.  Our brains don’t work like that.

So the first thing we thought was, “Well, if Robert’s photo is gone, they should ALL be gone!”  So we did this:

And we were rather pleased with ourselves.

But something wasn’t quite right.

We kept looking at that little be-tied placeholder, and while he totally worked for eight of the boys, we got a nagging feeling that something was missing for one of them.  That little circle of a head kept gnawing at us.  And then it hit us in a flash and we knew what needed to be done.  May we present:

…Fixed it for you.

Do you remember? The 21st night of September? Vocal Point does.

September 21, 2012

FINALLY!  Video of the New New Guys in Action!

A big thank you to a special blog helper for making sure we were aware of this video.  Thanks, Mikey! 🙂

(from the Youtube of faithann36)

It looks like things are coming along nicely here in the early goings.

The guys kick things off with a little mash-up of “Don’t Stop Believin'” and “Without You.”  Cowboy Conlon sounds super smooth on the “Without You” section, and then some way stylish New New Guy we don’t recognize hops out on lead for the Journey section, rocking slim fit pants and a cardigan.

What’s that you say?  That’s actually Rerun Evans?  You’ll have to forgive us, it’s taking our eyes and brains a while to reconcile the fly style to the man.  But our ears give an assist by identifying that timbre of great renown and just… *tears*  We’re so proud.

Then we see Beaker (in the casual Wednesday version of the Standard Look, apparently), encourage the crowd to move in closer because, “We don’t bite and we have another song for you.”  Oh, if we had a nickel…

As the crowd hesitates (they’re apparently worried about bitey-ness, too), Keith, all long-limbed and slow-motioned, signals for the guys to move forward to close the gap from their end as well.  Beaker then plugs the website (which should finally be making the switch from the True Group any day now… we hope).

And then the guys get all timely and bust out a version of Earth, Wind, and Fire’s “September.”  So even though Mikey sent us the link to the video yesterday, we decided to sit on it for a day in order to fully sync up our calendars with the musical goodness.

Scoot takes the lead here, and steps up all, “Here I am world, love me!”

Love you we will, Scoot, love you we will.  And truly, it’s really cool to see all of the New New Guys stepping up in this video.  From Keith and Conlon in the mash-up, to Scoot here, and Mega-Gigantor laying down the beats throughout, they are all bringing it.  We’re really looking forward to hearing more from them in the future.

Of course, we get to hear more from Gandalf the White right now in the form of a Kevin talkie, where he tells everyone to, “Like us on facebook, ’cause that’s a thing,”  and then kind of stumbles around the idea that some people may feel bad about listening to VP’s non-spiritual albums but not to worry because the bell bottoms and the hair are gone but they’re gonna keep on singing.

Three Power Stances for the Birthday Boy!

September 17, 2012

It’s Tyler’s birthday!!!

Instead of three cheers, we’re going to give him a three power stance salute.

Let’s all celebrate the birth of Papa Sterling’s pride and joy, and an integral part of the True Group.  Because we could always count on Tyler to raise the collective cool factor of VP.  We mean…

He knew enough to ditch the suspenders as soon as humanly possible. 😉 😉

And, how many guys look equally comfortable doing some longboarding:

And just chilling out, reading a fable about an Andalusian shepherd boy?

So, no matter how he spends his birthday, whether extreme or serene, we hope it’s a great one.  And more than anything, we really, truly, deep-down-in-our-souls hope it includes…

…a birthday sammich.
